JOIN THE FRIENDS OF THE LIBRARY

Mission Statement

The Friends of MCL is a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing financial support for the Library’s role as a source of information.

Another great way to help the library is to join the Friends of Mifflin Community Library. Annual memberships start at $10.00 for an individual and $15.00 for a family (more than one member). Your membership dues contribution is considered a tax-deductible contribution that helps to underwrite the purchase of new books, magazines, audio books, CDs, DVDs and equipment as well as other general Library operating expenses.

The Friends of MCL, founded as a 501(c)(3) organization in 2002, meets in the Hiller Room of MCL on the second Wednesday of January, March, May, July, September and November.  All members are invited to attend.  Please join us with your ideas and input on how to contribute to the financial stability of our community library.

The Friends coordinate a number of fundraising events to benefit the library. Some of their annual projects include bus trips (usually two/year), book and bake sales (held in April and October), blueberry sale (in June), chicken BBQ sale (in September), gift basket raffles (in May and December), holiday poinsettia sales (November/December) and, beginning in 2016, the Friends of MCL Garden Tour (held the fourth Saturday in June).

Since 2002, the Friends have contributed over $124,000 to the Library including over $108,000 toward MCL’s operating and capital campaign funds and an additional $16,000 for special programs and items bought directly for the Library – including the new electronic sign in front of the Library (added in 2014).

Contact the library at 610-777-3911 for additional information about how to get involved with the Friends of MCL.
