Try your hand at some Eastern Woodland style applique designs! To make applique designs, Native Americans use ribbons or cloth cut into patterns and shapes, sewed onto clothing or bags. These new materials were introduced by European traders and are still used by Native artisans today. We’ll make our own version on a paper bag with handles and decorate them using colored paper cut into the design of your choice. Try your hand at a traditional woodland floral design or come up with your own creative idea for an image!
