Info about Summer Reading:
Muhlenberg Community Library’s Summer Reading 2026, Unearth a Story, runs June 22 through August 8, 2026.
This is a summer reading program with prizes, special programming and more! Registration forms will be available inside the library, beginning June 22nd. Complete a registration form to get started, then pick up an age-level activity sheet.
Ages 0-6 are welcome to participate by being read to by parents, siblings or anyone! This age group will color in a book on the book tracker activity sheet for each book read. Complete a row to receive a ticket good for the prizes raffle.
School-aged children and teens can complete activities on a boardgame tracker to receive a prize ticket for each set of five activities completed. Prize tickets can be used to enter in the prizes raffle.
Adults can participate by completing a book rating sheet. Each completed book rating equals a prize ticket that is good for the prize raffle.
See the prizes raffle displayed in the library and enter your prize tickets for your chance to win.
All registration and participation forms will only be available in the library for pickup. Forms cannot be posted online.

Readers of all ages can read towards a county goal of 500,000 minutes to sponsor an adoption. For 2026, we will be working with a new partner: Humane Pennsylvania!
Pages for Pets 2026 will take place, Monday, June 22 - Friday, July 24.

Youth & Teen Recurring Programs
Tuesdays at 10:30am, Wee Ones Story Time: A baby and toddler lap-sit story program.
Tuesdays at 3pm, Afternoon Builders: LEGO club for ages 6-years-old and up.
Tuesdays at 5pm, Magic TG Club: Magic the Gathering for ages 8-years-old and up.
Wednesdays at 3pm, Video Game Free Play: Gaming in the Teen Room for kids & teens, 12-18 years old.
Thursdays at 10:30am, Stay & Play Story Time: Preschool age play and learning story hour.
*Children under 10 must be accompanied by a supervising adult, 18 or older, while in the library.
Summer Programs
Summer Basket Raffle has begun! This is a fundraiser for the library. Purchase chances in the raffle; 5 for $5, 15 for $10 or 25 for $15. Cash or check only, please. (This basket raffle is separate from the prizes raffle available to the participants of the Summer Reading program.) Check out the baskets info here. Winners will be drawn August 8th during the final day of Summer Reading. Need not be present to win.
Thursday, July 9th at 6pm, The Rom-Com Reader will be discussing Cash by Jessica Peterson. Free and open to new participants. No registration to attend.
Saturday, July 11th at 11am, America250 Celebration Story Time: All ages are welcome to join us for a special family story time to honor our country's history! Stay for the Rockin' Thru the Revolution children's concert and a cold sweet treat to complete this fun family day at the library.
Saturday, July 11th at 12pm, Rockin’ Thru the Revolution: Celebrate America250 with live music by Damien Drago. Learn about the Revolution with silly songs such as “Go Powder Your Wig.” Damien Drago has been a school teacher in Berks for 24 years. Some of his recorded songs have been featured on radio stations in Lancaster and Philadelphia. This children's concert will be held outside on the library grounds and is free to attend. Bring chairs or blankets to enjoy the concert!
Saturday, July 11th at 1pm, Ash Lab- Chemistry: How does mixing two substances create a whole new product? This lab is all about chemical reactions! Free program geared toward students heading to grades K-6th. Please register.
Thursday, July 16th at 12pm, 3rd Thursday Book Club will be discussing The Guest List by Lucy Foley. Free and open to new participants. No registration to attend.
Saturday, July 18th at 2pm, Alchemy Academy: Physiology- Mandrake Audio for grades 7-12. Through wizard lore and knowledge galore, this club transmutes the mysteries of science and math into magical discoveries. Teens in grades 7-12 are welcome to join Colby K. Lord in the Teen Room of the Muhlenberg Community Library. Colby is a high school senior who has excelled in honors science classes and will be studying biochemistry in college this fall. Alchemy Academy is a free program.
Thursday, July 23rd at 10:30am, Stay & Play Story Time Special Guest: Joining us for story time is Brain-Based Movement Specialist and Neuro-Movement Educator, author, and local, Kate Hughes of Signature Neuro. Children will delight in her interactive, movement-enriched story time based on Kate's books. Parents will get a sense of what Kate's upcoming presentations will entail and walk away with some useful information. Parents are welcome to join her Saturday, September 19th at 1pm, for a free presentation about Screens and The Developing Brain. Saturday, July 25th at 11am, Li'l Diggers Story Time for young children and their families are welcome to join us at the library to "unearth a story!" This is a special summer-themed story time and is free and open to all ages. No registration.
