JOIN THE FRIENDS OF THE LIBRARY

Mission Statement

The Friends of MCL is a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing financial support for the Library’s role as a source of information.

Another great way to help the library is to join the Friends of Mifflin Community Library. Annual memberships start at $10.00 for an individual and $15.00 for a family (more than one member). Your membership dues contribution is considered a tax-deductible contribution that helps to underwrite the purchase of new books, magazines, audio books, CDs, DVDs and equipment as well as other general Library operating expenses.

Please Note: Membership donations are separate from donations for tote bags and other specific items.

The Friends of MCL, founded as a 501(c)(3) organization in 2002, meets in the Hiller Room of MCL on the second Thursday of January, March, May, July, September and November (unless a date or location change is publicized). All members are invited to attend. Please join us with your ideas and input on how to contribute to the financial stability of our community library.

The Friends coordinate a number of fundraising events to benefit the library. Examples of the normal (pre-Covid) annual projects included bus trips (usually two/year), a winter social (January), book sales (in April and November), chicken BBQ sale (in September) and a holiday poinsettia sale (November/December). A Plant & Garden Ornament Sale (new event) is scheduled for May 22, 2021 in the Walgreen's Parking Lot (Lancaster Pike & Museum Road). Follow the MCL website, e-newletter and Facebook page for details about upcoming events.

Since 2002, the Friends have contributed over $156,000 to the Library including $139,500 toward MCL’s operating and capital campaign funds and an additional $17,000 for special programs and items bought directly for the Library – including the electronic sign in front of the Library.
