A few guidelines and restrictions will be in effect as we open:

We are open for browsing by appointment only so we can maintain 10 or less people in the library at a time.  You can begin calling 610.682.7115 on Oct 31st to schedule an appointment for November.

For the health and safety of all, we are requiring that everyone must wear a mask while in the building and the mask must cover your mouth and nose. If you do not have a mask, you will not be allowed inside. We also ask that you continue to wear a mask for curbside pick-up service.

Hand sanitizer is available at our entrance and throughout the library. Please feel free to use it as needed.

Please limit your time inside the library to 20 minutes or less.  We are only able to have 10 people inside the building at a time which includes staff.

Mondays have been reserved for residents of the Lutheran Home, Luther Meadows, Luther Haven and Heilman House.  All others will be scheduled for other days of the week.

All programming will continue to be virtual.

Restrooms are closed to the public.

Please practice social distancing at all times when inside the library.

Patron computers will be available later but not at this time.

Some areas are closed off-- nonfiction, magazines, computers, book sale and our meeting room. We can help you get items from these areas but patrons will not be permitted to get items themselves.  We are hoping to open these areas in the near future and appreciate your patience.

You will enter through a different door than in the past and then exit the library through the glass door near the circulation desk.

Toys, puzzles, the computer and chairs are not available in the children’s room.

We are not currently accepting book donations. But the donation boxes in Kutztown’s Giant parking lot and the Hobby Lobby in Trexlertown are now open for donations.

Items can be returned when you come but will be placed on a book cart or container and there will be designated areas for items touched so materials can be quarantined.

Please do not come to the library if you don't feel well.

We appreciate your patience and understanding as we navigate through these new procedures. We look forward to serving you and can't wait to have you back in the library!

Fines/ Fees
If you want to pay any old fines or fees that incurred prior to the library closing, please place your payment in an envelope and write your name on it and place it in the bag with your return items. We will apply payment to your account after the three to five-day quarantine. We will not be handling any payments or giving change at curbside pickup.

Items checked out during curbside will have a standard 3-week loan period (1 week for DVD feature films). You can confirm due dates by viewing your account online, looking at your printed receipt, or contacting the library.

Brandywine Bookfinder

Would you like some fresh items but not sure what to ask for? Call or e-mail (brandywinecl@berks.lib.pa.us) with general requests, and we will fill them with what we have on hand. Select a genre or give an example of what you'd like, along with a rough number of items. Specific requests are also welcome. Please keep in mind some holds will take longer to fill because interlibrary lending hasn't resumed yet.

For example:
"A few kids books about vehicles"
"2 newer adult fiction books"
"Some board books for my baby"
"10 picture books"
"I loved Woman in the Window. Something else similar."
"A teen sports book"

Book Donations
We are currently not accepting book donations due to the limited space due from quarantining materials.  Please continue to hold onto book donations or feel free to donate them to the book bins at Hobby Lobby in Trexlertown or Giant in Kutztown.

We only have one phone line so please be patient if it is busy.  We do have an answering machine and check messages on weekdays.

Thank you for your patience and understanding as we navigate new ways to serve you.
