The Bethel Tulpehocken Public Library now offers notary services by appointment or walk in only for the residents of our community.
Customers seeking notarization must bring:
- Document(s) in need of notarization WITH notarization papers.
- Valid photo identification such as a driver’s license, government-issued nondriver identification card, passport, or another form of government identification that is current, contains the signature or photograph of the individual, and is satisfactory to the notary.
- Any witnesses required. The library will not provide witnesses. Customers cannot ask library staff or library patrons to be a witness. If a witness is needed, the individual must know the witness notary services and provide valid photo identification as listed above.
The notary cannot notarize certain documents including but not limited to the following:
- Any documents requiring verification of facts
- Official documents such as vital records (birth and death certificates), U.S. Naturalization Certificates, any government-issued record that states it cannot be copied, or any record prohibited by law to copy or certify will not be permissible for the notary to issue a certified copy
- Any document or situation that raises uncertainty or does not seem authentic
- Documents not in English
- Documents that need an interpreter.
The Notary reserves the right to refuse notary service at any time.
Our Fees as set by 161.2(a) of the Department’s proposed are;
- Taking acknowledgment - $5.00
- Taking acknowledgment (each additional name) - $2.00
- Administering oath or affirmation (per individual taking oath or affirmation) - $5.00
- Taking verification on oath or affirmation (no matter how many signatures) - $5.00
- Witnessing or attesting a signature (per signature) - $5.00
- Certifying or attesting a copy or deposition (per certified copy) - $5.00
- Noting a protest of a negotiable instrument (per page) - $3.00
Clerical and Administration Fees
- Black and White Copies: 20 cents per page
- Color Copies: 50 cents per page
